American-style Bread That You Can Try


  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil


In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and vegetable oil. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan and cover with a towel. Allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the bread for about 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
