Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup plant-based milk (such as almond milk or soy milk)
- 2 tablespoons vegan butter, melted
- Garlic and/or cilantro (optional, for seasoning)
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Add the warm water, plant-based milk, and melted vegan butter to the bowl, and stir until the mixture forms a dough.
Knead the dough for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth, and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Once the dough has risen, preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions, and roll each portion into a ball.
Use a rolling pin to flatten each ball into a naan shape.
Optional: sprinkle minced garlic or chopped cilantro on top of the naan before cooking.
Place the naan on the preheated skillet or griddle, and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Serve hot with your favourite vegan curry or dip. Enjoy!
